Green Deal

What is The Green Deal?

The Green Deal is the Government’s new Flagship Energy Efficiency Scheme aimed to reduce carbon emissions and support the UK’s 2050 emission’s reduction target.

The first step is to have a Green Deal Assessment carried out on your property, in order to produce a bespoke energy efficiency package tailored to suit you and your home.  Ultimately The Green Deal is a finance package that enables you to install all the energy efficiency recommendations we make, at no upfront cost and uses your future savings to pay it back.

Is the Green Deal a loan?

Yes! The green deal is a loan from a government approved Green Deal Provider.  After we’ve confirmed your package of improvements and got you the best prices from our network of trusted, local and approved installers, we will calculate how much your energy bill will be reduced – your savings!

We then take this package – called a Green Deal Advice Report to the Providers who will offer you finance for the package.

Here is the clever bit – Our Green Deal Golden Rule;

“It must save most than it costs”

The repayments you will make on the loan cannot exceed your calculated savings.  Meaning your total expenditure will not go up.  What you are saving on energy, you are repaying on finance, but you have increased the value of your home and made it more comfortable and energy efficient.  As the price of energy continues to increase your savings grow.

This is why it is hugely important that you choose an independent Green Deal advisor to do your savings calculations.  If they are not independent they will not be making recommendations in your interest and they may fudge the savings calculations to allow you to take out more finance than you can afford.  Remember Green Deal is a loan, the repayments are fixed.  At Energy Friend we have more experience than anyone else in carrying out property assessments, making suitable recommendations and calculating those savings for real people in real homes, rather than theoretical figures from labs.

To find out how much you could be saving, book a Green Deal Assessment today. Assessments cost just £99 and could save you £1000’s on your future energy bills.
